From Morning to Mixer: There’s No Wrong Way to Drink a DASH
Some drinks know their place. DASH isn’t really one of them.
Straight from the fridge first thing. Cracked open with lunch. Poured over ice when the working day’s done. Dressed up with fruit when you fancy something a bit more special. Or topped with a splash of something stronger when Friday finally rolls around.
There isn’t really a right time to drink a DASH. And, judging by some of the ways we’ve seen people drinking theirs, there isn’t a right way either.
So, whether you’re already stocked up or you’ve got a few cans waiting patiently at the back of the fridge, here’s a little inspiration for wherever the day takes you.
Start the day your way
Coffee gets a lot of attention in the morning. Fair enough. It’s got a pretty important job to do.
But once the coffee’s done, something cold and fizzy from the fridge can be a very nice way to move into the rest of the day.
Peach after coffee is already a thing, apparently. One reviewer told us it’s become such a fixture in their routine that they have one every day they’re at home, straight after their morning coffee.
We’re not saying you need a morning DASH ritual.
But Peach after coffee? We can see it.
Make the afternoon slump a little more interesting
By the time the afternoon rolls around, you’ve probably already had water. You’ve probably had tea. You may have had enough coffee for one day.
Enter: the fridge can.
Cold, fizzy and fruity, DASH works rather nicely as that little something between lunch and finishing work.
Midday office treat. Afternoon boost. School-run pick-me-up. We’ve seen DASH described as all three.
Sometimes an occasion doesn’t need to be an occasion. It’s just 3pm and you fancy something nice.
Bring a can to lunch
Then there’s lunch.
At home, at your desk, out grabbing a meal deal or somewhere considerably more exciting, a cold DASH works very happily alongside food.
Keeping a few cold specifically for lunchtime is apparently a thing too. One reviewer put it even more simply: “lovely with a meal”.
Straight from the can is perfectly acceptable behaviour here.
Glassware optional.
Keep one cold for later
Been for a run? Just got back from the gym? Survived the commute? Spent three hours doing jobs you were convinced would take 45 minutes?
Whatever you’ve been up to, there are few things more satisfying than opening the fridge and discovering Past You had the foresight to put something cold in there.
No elaborate serve required. No garnish. No special glass.
Just crack, fizz, drink.
Give it the good glass treatment
Of course, sometimes cracking the can isn’t quite enough.
Ice. A slice of fruit. Frozen berries. The glass you normally save for something considerably stronger.
Same DASH. Entirely different energy.
And we’re not making this one up. Reviews have taught us that ice and fruit can make a DASH feel remarkably cocktail-like, while one particularly excellent suggestion involved a “posh glass with ice and a slice or some frozen berries”.
Frankly, we support it.
Turns out the difference between having a can from the fridge and having yourself a little drink might just be the glass.
Fancy a drink without the drinking?
Sometimes you want a proper drink, just without the alcohol part.
Nice glass. Plenty of ice. Something cold and fizzy. Maybe a slice of something if you’re feeling fancy.
One review particularly caught our attention: DASH had “replaced a pre dinner G&T”.
Now that’s a use case.
There’s something about the ritual that matters here. The glass. The ice. The I’ve finished work and am now officially unavailable of it all.
Alcohol doesn’t necessarily need to be invited.
Or make it a mixer
Then again, sometimes alcohol is absolutely invited.
DASH makes a very good mixer too. Plenty of flavour, plenty of fizz, without adding sugar or sweeteners to whatever else you’ve got going on in the glass.
Gin is an obvious place to start, but there’s plenty of room to experiment. Pick your DASH, pick your spirit, add ice.
We’ve even seen DASH served with non-alcoholic spirits, so the mixer cupboard doesn’t need to be particularly boozy either.
Basically, if you like it, it works. And if you'd rather not leave it entirely to chance, our drink flavour pairing guide has plenty of ideas for what to pair with your favourite flavour DASH, boozy or otherwise.
However you sip
Morning fridge raid. Midday desk DASH. Lunch companion. Straight from the can. Over ice and dressed up with fruit. Instead of the G&T. In the G&T.
The same little can can play quite a few different roles.
And that’s sort of the point.
There’s no rulebook for drinking DASH. No correct glass. No designated time of day. No requirement to artfully position a raspberry on the rim before you’re allowed to enjoy it.
Just get it cold and take it from there.
